NEW YORK — You have good reason to be skeptical when someone says millions of ordinary television viewers are about to start surfing the Internet on the living room's electronic hearth.
We've heard that Web-on-your-TV convergence promise for more than a decade, with ambitious efforts to make it happen including AOL TV and WebTV Networks. Each time, the optimists have been wrong.

This year might be different.
Big TV manufacturers including Sony, Samsung, LG, Panasonic and Vizio say that they're poised to revolutionize television this Christmas shopping season: They're about to launch the first major marketing push for a new generation of sets that can easily integrate Web content with traditional TV news and entertainment – without the fuss of connecting the TV to a set-top box.

"When we all open up the newspapers on Jan. 1, and they talk about the hot items from the holiday selling season, Internet-connected TVs are going to be at the top of the list," says Randy Waynick, senior vice president at Sony's Consumer Group.

Clicker Aims to Be the Path to TV Online
The Web is increasingly filled with television shows, but finding them can be hard. Clicker, a well-financed startup, believes it can help. On Thursday, the company is rolling out its service, Clicker.com, which it calls a “TV Guide for the Web.”

“If you created TV Guide in 2009 instead of 1953, you’d create something like this,” said Jim Lanzone, Clicker’s chief executive, who previously served as the chief executive of Ask.com, the No. 4 search engine.

Mr. Lanzone said finding a show is not that hard if you know where it is. For example, if you are looking for an NBC, Fox or Disney show, search Hulu and you’re likely to find it if it is available. But video search engines that work across the Web and return thousands of clips for every search are not very effective, he said. Watch live TV on your PC
You can watch television from your computer several ways. You can add hardware that picks up the signal, find websites that stream live video, or you can download software that accesses the broadcasting satellites. Each one has its advantages and disadvantages but by far most people agree that if you want to watch live tv on your pc you've got to go with the software.

Well, since the rise of internet TV is on the corner, I guess it's time that we revolutionize TV racks as well. It should have a chair that can be just pulled when someone wants to browse the Internet and hidden away when one wants to watch the TV and sit on the couch.
